Hey everybody today I am going to be talking about Hour of code.
In case you didn't know Hour of code is when you learn step by step how to programme your own computer.
Which I thought was pretty cool.

We also got to share this learning with little kids around the age of 6 or 7. We had to be really patient with them since they had no idea what to do. But we got there.

So anyway the first thing we had to do was play a game like mine craft of moana.
But lots like a programming game.
There were like different levels and you had to use
signs like left or right or move forward to make them move.
Eventually it got really hard but It was fun at the same time.
I learnt that you have to be really specific with your instructions so they go in the right direction.
Me and my buddy found it really fun.

I would want to do it more often.

Shot put

Important shot put skills that I learnt from others when they were thought at athletics.

1. The first thing you need to know is whether you are a lefty or if you a right handed, So then you know where to place your hand on which side of your neck.

Image result for palm hand#2. Another thing I learnt is that your neck and finger tips would have to be dirty. Why you ask is because you don't exactly hold the shot put with your palm because when you point and aim you only use your finger tips.

2. Then the next step is to put the shot put hold and It beside your neck staying in that position till you attempt to push.

3. Now what you are  to do next is turn yourself in a 90 degree clockwise turn and then  when you turn facing the field you push off the side of your neck and make sure your arm is straight. Again you are aiming to push the ball as further as you can not throw the ball.

Being sunsmart.

Hi guys I'm back with another presentation about being sun smart this is important hope you enjoy and learn something you didn't know I know I did .

How to be healthy.

                                                                        How to Be healthy.

Mrs kuma came in to our classroom so she could teach us about making more healthier choices in life
Some things that we learnt caught our eye so let me write down all the facts and knowledge that I learnt.

You need to eat regularly  and eating good portion sizes.
if your an islander like me it might be normal to have a plate full of meat chupsui and rice but lets be honest that is not healthy at all so if  you are an islander out there listening start to make a change . What you need to do the next time you have a big lunch take out your palm from one of your hands an measure how much rice is a palm full and how many pieces of chicken am i going to take 1 is the best choice. But anyway that is still not healthy but what you can do is have at least 2 cups of water to flush it all down . Also  make sure you have at least 8 cups of water a day also spread out through your meals. But again it is good to have a treat so those times when you just want to go crazy with  food its okay but not all the time. I know all of this helped me to  change alot of my health styles. Like  not always having the same thing for breakfast and change it up a bit. That is also something to try to have different variety of food in your body.

1. Did you know that when you get hungry we get tired and can your brain will get tired and you might start to cry out of know were  for the silliest reason.
2.  If you don't eat enough you can gain wait because your body will think that your not giving it enough food and and will store more fat in your stomach.

3.  Come on make more healthier choices you don't want be an old grump do you. Because I know I don't.
I also need to talk about another topic Breakfast.

                                                                               Breakfast.
1. Breakfast is the most important meal of the whole day because you need energy to keep you awake in class so you can learn and make your brain full of knowledge.\

2. When you wake up in the morning  and you do your usual thing and you get a bowl and decide to have cocoa pops for breakfast umm is that very healthy instead of that you could have wit bics and A piece of fruit but it is still good to have that a a treat.
3. 5 + a day keeps the doctor away right. Anyway yes it is good to have 5 pieces of fruit everyday but it doesn't have to be in 1 meal is can be spread ed out in to your 4 meals inducing morning tea 1 Mandarin at breakfast. 1 plum at morning tea. A bunch of grapes at lunch.  maybe even a couple f strawberry after dinner. and there you have it 5 + a day all spearheaded out in your everyday meals

Another biggie that caught my eye was fruit juices.  Did you know that those little fruit juice boxes that you get from the super market have teaspoons of sure in them 8 teaspoons thats really unhealthy.
I'm not going to buy those anymore. On the other hand some juices are okay and are pure 100 % fruit juice only that fruit no extra sugar. Anyway did you know that even though people say having diet products are better that normal coke sprite. Really they are just as bad as each other. What the difference is the diet products have handmade sugar in them called aspartame and regular fizzy has have  regular sugar canes not hand made but really fizzy drinks are bad for you in general. So you  are better off having water.

Speech compotition

OMG I am still over the moon. So where do I start okay ....so first of all my speech was on Being grateful for what you have in life. I Don't want to brag oh who am I kidding I am going to brag so I had just about Everything that the judges  wanted from me to deliver a outstanding speech Good volume,Expression,Eye contact, and i memorised the whole thing.. But I'm not finished yet.

So as you know when they said Now next is Danae saying a speech about blah be blah blah I was So nervous I could not speech. I thought I was going to have stage fright and I would mess up. I mean all the other kids were much more experienced and some were new to this as well . But again when the MC'S called my name I was really starting to doubt myself. My brain was Like (Its okay take deep breaths take your time )so I did..... Then I started talking it was my first time experiencing this and at first I was about the average volume a person has to do when delivering a speech but when I was talking and talking I got louder and louder and I was okay I was so proud of myself. Finally I was done everybody clapped and I sat down.

Then It was A phew more speeches till the real overwhelming action happend.
So everybody had finished we had all tried our best. We waited a phew minuets then when the judges were ready we all were crossing our fingers and preying we would place 3rd 2nd or 1st. So Coming 3 rd place were actually two people. Vika,Fifita yay ... whohooo, In second place  came Dinah Mary yay Dinah good job. I was already like well theirs always next year. Wait and now someone that memorised there speech very well had good eye contact and started with a rhetorical question DANAE whohoo yeah go Danae yay.
As I said I was so overwhelmed.

Cross country.

WOW today was the day we had our School fun run as you can see I was running up a hill with my                friend Honey. I really tried my best today. Even though I did not place anywhere I think that If i          didn't worry about being the last one at the beginning instead of at the end. NO I did not place anywhere                     but I still made it though I slipped. In the end I was still proud of myself.

Basket ball

                                                                        Basket ball

This is Room 14 at basketball well we were just doing a team cheer.
Our coaches names are Coach Mark and coach Adrian
But let me start at the beginning.
So I missed the first week of basketball but I went the second week and it was pretty fun our skill for that week was control because if you don't have control the the other team can get the ball and goal.
So first we had to do warm ups.

Here is us doing a 1 of our warm ups that we had to do.
We had to pass the basketball around our heads then bounce the ball to the end meaning behind the cone then run and bounce the basketball all the way back also behind the cone then give the basketball to the next person and we had to do that until everybody had a turn.

This is when we were getting ready practising how
to bounce the ball without looking at the ground and looking ahead.

                                                                     The third week

The third week of basket ball our key word was communication because we were learning                           how to pass the ball properly  in three different ways. The first one pass we learnt was the chest                      pass so basicly we had to hold the ball to our chest so our arms are straight while aiming to the                                                                    other persons chest.

Here is coach mark and coach Adrienne showing us how to step and put your hands
in a certain position after you have cached the ball.

Here are some photos of room 14 shooting the ball in to the basketball hoop.

Up above here is Vini about to shoot. One of the important things we learnt when shooting
is obviously how to shoot properly not to the wall  not to the person behind you to the hoop.
So I am going to say one unusual word BEEF now beef stands for Balance so you don't shoot the ball at the wall, Eyes so you know where your throwing the ball,Elbows if your elbow was facing your teacher then when you aim the ball to the hoop instead of the hoop it might not exactly go to your teacher but it could hit somebody else or another wall nearby or it could hit your teacher, follow through so your basicly flicking the ball into the direction you want it to go so you get a perfect shot.

Hope  you enjoyed my post about my experience with learning different skill of basketball.

Learning about Hearing

                                                 Room Fourteen Learning about hearing.

A big group of  Lynfield collage teenagers came to our school to teach different classes                                  about hearing and what you can do to to help yourself from getting bad hearing loss.
Now I am going to tell you a bit of a recap of what I learnt.

First of all you know how we have the unite of measure for meters well sound also has a unite of measure
now when these girls asked that question a phew people said " is it Volume" well your wrong the              unite of   measure for sound is called Decibels the limit for decibels is  the number 85 higher than that                                           number that  means it is too loud. Any lower is safe.

Another thing that I learnt was that everything is made up of molecules so when we did an  experiment with some string a ping pong ball  and a scientific tool we used it to make the vibrations so when we banged the tool on the table when it was vibrating then stayed still while the ping pong ball was discharging from the tool.

There were three main things that we all learnt that was
if your music in your car is too loud Turn it down
If someone has a loud siren or is playing music near you an you think
it is too loud. Walk away Now the last one is using PROTECTION. Now with                                             me personally I think that is the most important. Because having hearing loss
is not cool so if you have parents or if you have a dad that works around big                                               machines and its really loud you can not only buy ear plugs for yourself to keep                                              you safe but also for  your parents or anyone else who needs them.

This is us playing a game about what it sounds like when
you have good hearing and what it sounds like when you do have hearing loss.
Here is us when we got picked to stand up and hold these cards that pitchers of things that may be safe or unsafe for your hearing. Did you know that the most dangerous thing that would be to loud for your ears would be and rocket launching. That would be 165 decibels but the limit is 85 so even if you listen to it for at least 5 seconds you could get really bad ear damage.
This is Hannah and Zainab holding a sound o meter to see if walking a
step a way form loud sound will make a difference to your hearing.

Maths game "Place value war"

                                                                 Place value war

Danae,Brian,Ezekiel,Monasinah and Caysal are  playing cards.
First you need at least 2 or more people to play this game.
Secondly Deal out the cards evenly between group so they all have about 6 to 8 cards each.
Thirdly  take 2 cards on the top of your deck and flip them over remembering to not look at them.Looking at other opponents card whoever has the highest cards wins.
e.g  When you flip over 1 card and say is the number 9 that represents the tens column. Then when you flip over the second card and say it is a 1 that wil represent the ones column.
The person that has 91 as there number wins for that is the highest number
Then we keep playing until somebody in your team has got everybody's cards.

This is when it was my turn to say what number I had.
This was when Our new student Brian was just
about to flip his cards and say what number he had.
We had fun playing that game is was a change.

Hi again This is another fun blog post that I am putting up for all of you to see. This was a fun change from doing work in books and on sites ,we got to play with cards. This was helping us with our place value and there is a demonstration on how we played the game.Hop you enjoy.See you later.

Samoan language week.

                                                                        Welcome to
                                                                           Samoa

Talofa lava o lou ingoa o Danae. Hi my name is Danae  2 weeks ago we had the most exciting fun hard-working week.SAMOAN LANGUAGE WEEK. If you want to read more on what we did keep reading.
On Monday our first activity we got to do was teach kids about the yummy samoan (mea ai food) that we eat in Samoa.

This was one of our 4 different foods that we were talking about that day.So in this photo is Mamere and Sili are showing Rm 14 kids how to make Samoan coco and how it is transformed into a hot drink which is one of my mums favorite hot Samoan beverage to drink. Hmm yummy.
Here is another Samoan food/drink that a lot of Samoans drink and eat.
This is called the coconut also known in Samoa Po Po now a lot of other pacific islands have coconut trees ans Samoa is one of them so as you can see. Komiti (James) is taking out he  coconut/Po Po out of its shell into a bowl.Which he will use to make coconut cream but he will squeeze it fist to get the juice.
Now here is Harriet and Sherona talking about the precious valuable jewelry that Samoan people make just out of coconut, carving knives, metal pieces, and paint. There are also fans made out of old flax and raffia, and sometimes paint, colored die ,feathers, shells.

In this photo  as you can see we had our Samoan
assembly and we were getting ready to dance.
After our assembly we ate ALLOT of food and we also got Chopsuey and rice.
Then we went out to play then we sang songs and laughed and went home early from along week of fun.
Fa'aa fetai lava thank you so much for reading my
blog post about our special week about Samoa.
